To live a healthy and long life, it is very important to have good eating habits and exercising. Similarly, it’s very crucial to have a good sleep at night too. The quality of sleep has decreased, and the sleeping hours of many people have also decreased. This condition of deprived sleep is called insomnia. Insomnia can lead to many negative effects on the body.

  • Lowers risk of heart diseases and stroke– The sleep of less than 7 to 8 hours a day is found to be linked to a higher risk of heart problems like stroke etc.  
  • Reduced risk of type 2 diabetes– Insomnia can affect blood glucose levels and even insulin sensitivity can be reduced.  
  • Saves from depression– Insomnia is the main cause of issues related to mental health like depression. Thus, leading to a greater risk of suicidal tendencies and an increased death rate due to suicide. 
  • Improves immune function: Lack of sleep affects the immune function of the body. 
  • Decreased inflammations in the body–

Insomnia is linked with the activation of undesired inflammation markers and leads to cell damage. 

  • Improves emotional and social interaction ability– 

Insomnia reduces the ability to identify some crucial social cues and processing that emotional information. The facial expressions of happiness and anger are not recognized well with a person with a reduced sleep cycle. 

Without taking good care of the body with an adequate time of sleep, a person cannot achieve a healthy life.
